RIM brings devices with 2.5G and 3G data speeds to the U.S.

RIM BlackBerry devices are very popular in the enterprise and government sectors and it looks like U.S. customers will soon be able to get a hold of BlackBerry devices running 2.5 and 3G radios. These 7100 series devices are targeted towards consumers with a more standard mobile phone form factor. I personally haven't had a chance to try a BlackBerry device and may have to try one with these faster radios soon.

Cingular announced that the BlackBerry 7130c will take advantage of their EDGE, 2.5G, data service with data plans starting as low as US$29.99 per month. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server plans start at US$44.99 per month. The 7130c will sell for US$199.99 with new two-year activation starting next week. The BlackBerry 7130c doesn't have a full QWERTY keyboard, but uses the interesting two key configuration seen first on the 7100 devices. The device sports an Intel Xscale processor, 240x260 color display, 64MB flash memory and 16MB SDRAM and is advertised as having noticeably faster web browsing capabilities.

The BlackBerry 7130e was announced recently and will operate on Sprint and Verizon Wireless' 3G EV-DO networks. The FCC recently approved the BlackBerry 7130g, which may soon appear for T-Mobile.
