Samsung LTE devices, 2 weeks with the iPad, RIM woes (MobileTechRoundup show #264)

Summary: In addition to using the iPad 3 for two weeks, I also have a few other great devices I am testing out. I just ordered one of them for myself, the Samsung Galaxy Note, after being struck by it's usefulness and gorgeous display.

This was our first MoTR podcast since our new iPads arrived so we had to offer up some comments on our usage of them for two weeks to kick off MobileTechRoundup show #264. We also have a few other devices in hand and I am excited about the Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab 7.7 with Verizon LTE. Kevin brought up the woes of RIM and we touched on that company a bit, which is another sad tale similar to what we saw with Palm. Kevin also mentioned a great free app and I now have it loaded on all of my devices.

  • Lumia 900 on T-mobile

Since T-mobile is slowly implementing 1900MHz support for data across the country, you might be able to use the Lumia 900 on their network some time soon. The only problem is that there is no schedule posted on where or when this support will be turned on that I can find online. I sure wish T-mobile would let us know as it would open up a huge amount of unlocked devices, including the iPhone and Galaxy Tab 7.7, for T-mobile users to buy.

  • Verizon Data Plans

    Matt,

I have verified with Verizon's official Twitter support account (@VZWSupport) that your hotspot functionality is included with any tablet data contract, with no additional fee. It is not constrained only to iPads, which is pretty cool.

Phones, unfortunately, are still subject to the additional fee.
