The DROID X may be your only choice

If you've been wondering when you can get your hands on the DROID X, Motorola and Verizon Wireless have both confirmed that tomorrow is the day. The DROID X will be available both online and in Verizon Wireless stores beginning tomorrow, July 15, for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in-rebate (with a new two-year agreement).

There was initially some concern that the DROID X would suffer the same parts shortages as the HTC EVO and HTC Incredible, but Verizon is now stating that there will be plenty of DROID X devices to go around.

It's definitely an interesting time for the DROID X to come to market. Earlier this week Consumer Reports passed on the iPhone 4, and Sprint is still showing the HTC EVO as unavailable. I also noticed first-hand, that the HTC Incredible remains out of stock.

So, what's a new phone buyer to do? Do you put your name in for the HTC Incredible, HTC EVO, or iPhone 4, or do you pick up the DROID X tomorrow? If the devices were in stock, both the DROID X and HTC EVO are coming highly recommended from Matt Miller, and I've been sporting an HTC EVO daily with no complaints, along with my iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.

I'd love to see people lining up to get the DROID X tomorrow. Unfortunately, Verizon Wireless hasn't been marketing the DROID X as the only high-end phone available tomorrow in-store, so that probably won't happen. That said, with the other phones currently unavailable, the DROID X is in an unique position, and could be a huge win for Verizon Wireless and Motorola.
