6 more free apps for your HP TouchPad

By | August 29, 2011, 8:43am PDT

Summary: HP has just opened another six apps for free in its promotion for TouchPad owners. Supplies are limited so grab your free apps as soon as possible.

The promotion HP ran last week for free apps for the TouchPad was a success as the promo codes ran out after just a day. The second six-pack of free apps has just been released by HP so those interested better get over there and snag them before the well runs dry. Note that there are only four new apps being given away as two of the six were also on the free list last time.

  • Big Boss (Fair Play Labs, $1.99, rlhul24446cnvjo): Design your “Boss” – a gigantic monster – and attempt to defeat the brave heroes and powerful wizards of WackyLands.
  • Camera for TouchPad (Keen Studios, $0.99, qnauu98845swgrt): Start snapping away, with options for managing your photos and using them with other TouchPad apps.
  • Angry Birds Rio HD (Rovio Mobile Ltd., $1.99, xsgsc06319eeqrk): The original Angry Birds are kidnapped and taken to Rio de Janeiro, where they eventually escape their captors and set out to save their friends, Blu and Jewel.
  • Quell HD (Fallen Tree Games, $1.99, urber52865hgtqc): A unique puzzler that is sure to test your brain with 70-plus levels of game play.
  • Pennant (Vargatron, $4.99, ltrns51564vabdu): Got historical pennant fever? Get the scoop on over 115,000 games with this interactive statistical treasure trove of baseball from 1952 to 2010.
  • FlightPredictor HD (gregstoll.com, $1.99, htukc87057kxshv): Powered by FlightCaster.com, you’ll get timely notifications before air travel glitches get in your way.
The promo code is listed above for each app immediately after the price. Just enter it in the appropriate box during checkout and you’ll be using your free app in minutes.

Perfect! Let's have a secret fire sale, where no one finds about until Monday after it's over. And then, let's give away free software to everyone else while those who missed out wait to see if the promise of more availability was imaginary or not -- making it impossible for them to even take advantage of that. We don't all have an inside track! How about a little fairhandedness? HP certainly isn't gaining any points in my mind, but, then again, I guess they don't care any more anyway.

"Supplies are limited so grab your free apps as soon as possible"

HP's ones and zero's are in short supply. Possibly from being stored on their enterprise hardware. Or maybe they rolled over into a new "Temporary Contracted work force" here in the states and they can't find any ones and zero's in their warehouse.

Second time HP has released a six pack of free apps; second time I and probably hundreds of others have missed out on these limited offers. I am feeling more contempt towards HP every time they release these limited offers. Some people actually work during the day and can't check for offers every 5 minutes. When are going to get it right and make "free" apps available to everyone HP????

@Jerry That's something I'm also upset about. Which I commented on their tweet and thread! Maybe if enough people feel the same they will do these giveaways at different times so everyone gets a chance. You should comment like me... Bc Like you I get home late and never in time to take advantage of the free aps.

Isn't it odd how quickly these e-supplies ran out.
Almost seems like a ploy to get people to register new ID's with credit cards with their app store to boost their stats before selling.

Why else would you be forced to enter your credit card before you can use a free promo code. I tried commenting on HP blog article that the codes were posted, but the message won't post. Says it must be approved by admin, which appears it won't. Hmm...

  • Available - *NOT* ! !
Got to love HP - not -
Both free 6 Pack promotions have been very oversubscibed and 'run out' leaving a lot of people somewhat unhappy.
Neither of the promotions have been available in the UK (where I live happy
On the other hand - I have gained a great tablet for 115 UK sterling and and missing out on a free app has not cost me money.
All in all I am a happy HP Touchpad owner. And like most of us, I just hope HP can do good things with WebOS.
(but I am not betting on it !)

I was able to get in on the second give away of apps. They pay the developers for them, so really I think it is generous of them. True not everyone gets in on it, but they are generating a buzz around WebOS, which I also like.

Yep, the whole "Promo Code" thing is a complete joke. Like most people who have a job, I do not get the opportunity to type in a promo code within 2 minutes of getting the email. Either make the apps free for a few days or don't bother at all. I can't help thinking this is HP's lame attempt to try and make you accidentally hit the "Purchase" button instead of the "Use Promo Code".
Can't wait for the day Cyanogenmod releases Android so I have some real apps to choose from.
