Hit the road like Harrison Ford with the Indy bag (review)

Summary: This bag is designed to fit the iPad or other tablet, for hitting the road in a rugged yet stylish way.

SHARE:

Gear bags are a personal thing, and some of us like to keep them as thin and light as possible. The Indy bag from SFbags fits that description exactly, yet can carry a decent load on the road.

The Indy is a stylish bag made of rugged leather that is being pitched as an urban bag for toting the iPad on the streets. While it certainly can do that it will handle any tablet of the 10-inch variety or smaller. It is a vertical messenger bag with a comfortable shoulder strap.

The Indy uses a recessed zipper to keep the contents of the bag safely in place. There is a big pocket inside for the iPad (thin 10-inch netbooks would fit), and two smaller pockets for carrying accessories or other gear. There is also a key holder inside the inner compartment.

The front of the Indy has a big pocket for those things you may need to access quickly. It has a small pocket in the center that fits most smartphones perfectly, keeping them safe but near at hand.

The sleek back of the Indy has a zippered pocket that can handle larger flat items.

The construction quality of the Indy bag is typical for SFbags. I own several of their bags and laptop sleeves and I have never had one wear out, even with years of heavy usage. The price of $179 may be high for some, but the quality is first-rate.

The Indy is available in brown leather as pictured, or in black. Several accent colors are available at checkout to personalize your own Indy bag. Hit the road in style with the Indy, but note there is no holder for a bullwhip.

  • Maybe in San Francisco ...

I carried a leather satchel for years when I lived in Grenoble and never thought anything about it. Then I moved to Dallas and the thing never left the house after the first day. My boss sent his secretary out at lunch to buy me a Tumi backpack as a "welcome gift" and that was the end of the man purse.

At the company I work for was responsible for the disappearance of all bags like this that the men had. There are only a few placed in the world where men can get away wioth wearing a bag like this & even then it is not manly.

      • Yeah...

Yeah, I've got a "man purse" for my tablet and keyboard and stuff. The other day my co-workers stuffed a lipstick and tampon in it while I wasn't looking.

I refuse to be beaten, though, LOL! I Still carry it around.

Cost that much! I would not be caught dead with that thing on my credit card statement, let alone wearing it in public.

  • Not a bad Idea

I have a friend in big career has an army green patterned BIG bag that has to go over his shoulders, he goes everywhere with it. Very bulky but saves him lots of times. I now have iPad, IPhone and other essentials the bulk up my pockets and I"m often leaving something behind. I think I need one, I certainly would never be caught with a Coach man purse. Right now I have things loosely dumped in a canvas Trader Joes bag and always rummaging around in the bottom wasting time and in car it has fallen off the seat onto floor in sharp turns or quick stops. Talk about a pain...

"I own several of their bags and laptop sleeves"

    Me too.
    The quality is almost unique.
I feel sorry for anybody *that* insecure in their masculinity that they fear anybody thinking "man purse". Because this is a *very* practical thing. A *tie* is *only* decorative, and yet men can wear that.
