HP TouchPad owners: get 6 free apps from HP for a limited time

By | August 25, 2011, 6:19pm PDT

Summary: HP is providing a six-pack of good apps for TouchPad owners for a limited time. Check out how to get your free apps.

Updated: As if HP hadn’t done enough for you by selling you a TouchPad for a hundred bucks; The company is now offering a free 6-pack of quality apps for a limited time. These aren’t bad apps either, there is one app that made my list of five good apps released today, a storybook app, two games, a camera app for turning the web cam of the TouchPad into a real camera, and a bird-watching app with stunning photography and bird-calls on tap.

The list of six apps available for free (normally $0.99 - $14.99) until the end of the month:

  • Glimpse
  • Kung Fu Panda 2 Storybook
  • Big Boss
  • Sparkle HD
  • Camera for TouchPad
  • Audubon Birds

Check out the descriptions of the apps and simple instructions for getting your free apps on the HP blog. It’s easiest to hit the blog link from your TouchPad and then just follow the instructions for the apps. No need to enter the promo codes for the purchase, long-press on each code and hit the Copy button, hit the app link in the instructions, and then long-press in the box for the code and select Paste.

The best news about this free offer is it is just the first one. HP says early next month we’ll see the next six-pack of free apps in this promotion. I’ll bet HP is trying to make sure developers stick around for a while, and this is a good way to do that.

Update: The special offer was limited to a few thousand respondents and has expired. The next promotion is scheduled for early September and it appears you’d better be quick to get the free apps.

How do I get them free? Each of the apps has a cost to it. Bought my TouchPad 2 weeks ago. Nevermind, figured it out but couldn't download any, they were all gone.

@newbietabowner Follow the simple instructions given.
Unfortunately this wasn't merely a time-sensitive offer, there was also a limited number of downloads available. And the download limit looks to have maxed out before 24 hours passed. I'm hoping that HP adds more downloads to the limit and lets the new adopters in on the deal so that they can get more functionality out of their GPS along with more of an appreciation of webOS overall. As it stands, I'm betting that mostly the (at least somewhat) tech savvy were able to take advantage of this.

@Hellking The next promotion is early September for six more free apps.
Free my eye. What a joke. HP is the worst managed company of all time. What a bunch of twits!
