The remote desktop access app LogMeIn Ignition today has the ability to access user files in the cloud. Termed My Cloud, the feature allows LogMeIn users on the iPad and iPhone to add Google Docs and Dropbox credentials to the app for on the go access to those files stored in the cloud.
Once the cloud services are configured in LMI, a simple screen gives access to all files stored in either Google Docs or Dropbox. Individual files accessed from the app can be stored locally for future access right on the iOS device.
A new screen in LMI brings remote access, local files, Google Docs, and Dropbox files to a single screen. Tapping what you want brings up either remote control of a user’s computers, or cloud file access. The My Cloud feature allows users to do the following:
- Transfer files and folders between remote computers and the cloud while on the go
- View files and folders on their computers and popular cloud storage and sync services like Dropbox and Google Docs on their iPad and/or iPhone
- Save files from the cloud or remote computers on to an iOS device
LogMeIn Ignition is $29.99 in the App Store, and I use it regularly to remotely control my MacBook and Windows 7 laptop from the iPad.
