Skype isn’t the only VoIP solution in the news today, as the LogMeIn folks have updated a free app for the iPad and iPhone that adds chatting to screen sharing sessions. The join.me app now available in the iTunes App Store adds the ability to have voice conversations with the standard screen sharing and remote control functions over the join.me online service. The app is free as is the join.me service, but there is a Pro version of the service that adds functionality over the free sessions.

LogMeIn launched join.me a few months ago and the service allows anyone to host a screen sharing session with up to 250 viewers. Users can give product demonstrations, or use the service to view someone’s computer screen remotely. The addition of VoIP means the parties can now converse about the session with no additional hardware required, just an iPad or iPhone.
