My interest in the mobile segment started many years ago as I realized early on the impact a powerful handheld gadget could have on our lives. I really have been using mobile devices since they weighed 30 pounds. Over the years I have owned or tested hundreds if not thousands of handheld devices for my coverage, and a few of them have been so far ahead of their time that they made a lasting impression on me in my work, and had an impact on the mobile devices yet to come.

The best way to share these gadgets is through a photo tour of them. Each of these gadgets had an affect on the mobile space for different reasons, and is worth a trip down memory lane to remember them. It is surprising how many of these gadgets, while hitting the scene years ago, still have attributes that make them competitive with the mobile device of today.

None of them hold any true importance in our lives because technology, computers and software are a distraction from what is truly important in our lives and a huge waste of time

Lol, it is precisely because of technology that I am able to spend less time in the office and more time with friends and family!

Hands down my most significant mobile device is my smartphone. I have used Android, iOS, WebOS, and Windows Phone 7 and one thing they all have in common is a drastic increase in productivity over plain feature phones. I can't even remember how I could function without full access to my email, calendars, and files in the palm of my hand.
