Articles about smartphone platforms always bring out both the enthusiasts and detractors, and it is difficult to get a feel for how many folks are using phones on each platform. The following polls will generate an interesting comparison of what platform readers are currently using on their smartphone, along with what platform the next smartphone will be running. Be sure and vote in both polls so the comparison will be meaningful.

What are you currently using? The particular phone doesn't matter, just what OS it is running.

        Unfortunately, the site allows multiple voting, so, you have to wonder about the accuracy of the figures. There is no way of telling how many times people may have voted and there is no indication of the number of votes. Overall, these two "polls" have a value somewhere between zero and nothing.

        yeah, well, uh, it was 9, and then I looked and it was 13, and now it's...WTF!!!!!!! And smokin' Apple...oh boy, this is too funny. HP and RIM - not good. But as noted below, we are all cretins who hate (insert name here), so this means diddly sasquath!

    I have a HTC Desire with Android 2.2, not liking the update model - it should mirror Apple, instead I'm waiting for HTC and Vodafone UK to release 2.3. I'm also having problems with running low on memory all the time as my phone only has 147Mb internal memory - very lame! Next phone will be an iPhone, Apple do it right!

      Really suspect you are doing something wrong.
      I have a Nexus One running 2.2 and have no issues with memory.
      One thing I do to help is to move any app that can be to the SD card..
      Have someone knowledgeable look at your phone.

        @zenwalker Totally agreed. You are doing something wrong here. apps2sd should be helping you with that problem. My Epic, Hero and Nexus One are all running fine on 2.2. Get help from somebody or a message board devoted to your phone. If this is too complex for you or you are not willing to put in effort then maybe you do need an iPhone. I personally would rather spend some time learning and have a phone that has unlimited possibilities than a phone with no learning and limited possibilities. But that's just me. That's not for everyone. Some people are better off with an iPhone.

    Ha @ the self-selection on this poll. More JK trolling - how many Apple fans even read his column? He is so biased towards Android in general... I think the results will just reflect people willing to open an article with his byline.

  • Ask someone - anyone from NCR what they think of WP7

    Have it on good authority that Sprint agreed to take thousands of HTC WP7 phones back from NCR Corp. Too many issues with the phone is the reason cited. <br><br>What did they go with instead - HTC Android.

      @SpikeyMike Can you cite a source for this information or are you pulling it out of your ass? Why would Sprint take WP7 phones "back" when they don't even sell them yet?

      What did I miss? Last time when I checked WP7 is only available on GSM networks and those in US are AT&T and T-Mo. When did Sprint become GSM or is WP7 available on CDMA? Yeah I realized, you are just a troll.

      @SpikeyMike As other have pointed out, SPRINT (and MS) won't even have a CDMA WP7 out until June. You are maybe thinking T-Mobile that has the HTC WP7 (the HD7). We can only conclude that you're not very good with facts and details, so there is no reason to give your "good authority" much credence, either. Ooops, UPDATE -- Matthew Miller's blog states that there is speculation that the HD7 is coming to SPRINT this week, as the ARRIVE. Ballmer needs to do a better job of watching his calender . . .

      @SpikeyMike Sorry Mike but FAIL. Having authority on something that is physically impossible right now doesn't work. Otherwise my brother wouldn't be waiting for a WP7 phone to be released so he can join my Sprint family plan and have a smartphone with essentially unlimited everything for $30 a month.

      As a Verizon customer - I couldn't tell you what phones are available from Sprint.

      I spoke to a guy wearing an NCR shirt - holding a HTC EVO 4g device.

      He said that his company (NCR) got Sprint to take back a bunch (thousands) of WP7 phones made by HTC and get credit for the HTC versions running Android.

      Now - based on that, sounds like Sprint took in units that NCR bought from another carrier to get their business.

      Do I have a source I can quote - no, just a conversation with a guy.

      This was the first time I spoke with someone who's had any hands-on with a WP7 phone - Good or bad.
