The 11th beta of Firefox 4 is expected to be released tomorrow, Feb. 8, one lead developer announced.

In an update posted this evening, chief developer Christian Legnitto said the time has come for the next-to-last beta of Firefox4.

"QA has signed off on Firefox 4 beta 11. We intend to push it to mirrors tonight/ tomorrow morning PST ... and release to the beta audience tomorrow , 2011-02-08," wrote Legnitto.

He noted that the code may not be ready for broad distribution Tuesday morning due to last minute prep work. "So don't expect to wake up in the morning to "Firefox 4 beta 11 has been released" news articles," he wrote.

The team plans to release beta 12 following this release. The final Firefox 4 is slated to be released late this month.

  • Next is beta 12

And there will likely be 1-3 release candidates.

People wonder why I'm so skeptical of Mozilla ever having a real time table...

With Beta 10's hardware acceleration (use of Direct2D) and the fact that Firefox uses less memory (sorry, don't blame Firefox on crappy plugins that eat gobs of memory), I prefer Firefox over Chrome.

However since I use Browser Chooser to open up links from apps (allows you to pick a browser to launch an URL), I tend to distribute my browsing between Firefox, Chrome, Opera 11 and IE9 Beta.
