Firefox 4 beta 7 is now slated to be available Wednesday.
The latest date, announced by project leader Mike Beltzner during the Mozilla group's weekly meeting, seems pretty solid but there is "one issue we're investigating," Beltzner noted.
The team originally expected beta 7 in September but the code was held up by a number of technical issues.
Beta 7 was officially built last Thursday and the quality assurance folks are working on the final issues.
There are currently 87 blockers in the Beta 8 code. Beltzer expects that will be out in roughly three weeks.
Meanwhile, the mobile version of Firefox is making steady progress. Beta 2 for the Maemo and Android operating systems recently shipped and the beta 3 code freeze is scheduled for November 23, one developer announced during Monday's meeting.
