The Firefox team is playing it safe.

There will be at least two more beta releases before a Firefox 4 release candidate is distributed, says one Firefox developer.

“We will release beta 10 as soon as possible during the week of the 24th … we will release beta 11 as soon as possible during the week of the 31st, “says Christian Legnitto, in a message posted to the MozillaWiki. “To control risk for the RC the plan is to do two betas (10 and 11) rather than hold beta 10 for all betaN hardblockers.”

There are more than 55 blockers that still need fixing and more than 318 bug fixes which need to be tested before the finished code is released.

Firefox 4 beta 9 was released on January 14. The first beta debuted on July 6.

Better safe than sorry.

I'm on 3.6.13 and the below items have been happening for A WHILE!

1) Firefox still jumbles Adobe PDF Writer prints (this has been going on for the last year plus!!!)

2) Firefox intermittently (last 6 mos. at least) is cutting off / truncating in print preview & the hard copy print.

Is that build 1?

@Calystor

I downloaded that, but was too hesitant to install it until I know it is the final beta build or not.

I think a lot of us are waiting for the various plug-ins that our lives depend on to be upgraded to be compatible with FireFox 4. I wonder if the Delicious plug-in will be updated, given recent happenings at Yahoo!

Still a bit of work to do
CobraA1 24th Jan 2011
Yeah, there's still a bit of work to do in the beta.

Even though it is certainly improving with every beta, there's still some issues.

-I still get occasional lockups. They're usually much smaller now, but they still happen.

-I'm getting some crashes.

Overall, however, it looks very promising. It's drawn me back to Firefox after using Chrome for a while.

I just updated to FF4beta10 and it still has problems with page reloading and crashed on Hotmail.com, so I will NOT be using FF4 again.
