Firefox 4 now available

The Mozilla team this morning officially released the public version of Firefox 4.

Version 4 desktop release features a redesigned user interface, new JavaScript engine, hardware acceleration, new synchronization capabilities and up to date support for important web technologies such as HTML5 and WebGL.

The final code is based essentially on the first release candidate that shipped March 9, sans a few fixes. Bugs that surfaced after RC1 shipped were addressed in a follow up release candidate 2 for Windows, OSX and Linux that slipped out late last week.

The team plans to ship out a quick fix patch code named “Anteater” within the next two weeks if necessary. Then, a “Macaw” update is expected two to three weeks from today that will incorporate other fixes discovered during the first month of use.

The beta testing process began last June.

In her off time, she enjoys scuba diving, sailing, sun worshipping, running, reading, surfing (the net) and hanging out with her family. She resides on the shores of Scituate, Massachusetts.

Good day to confirm this comment I would appreciate T h e b e s t o f Z D N e t d e l i v e r e d your website very nice to everyone Yes, Oracle is the only one with shared-disk architecture, but that is there advantage. It means you can add or remove nodes and the database lives on. In a shared nothing architecture, if you lose a node, you lose the system. I'm sure Oracle appreciates EMC highlighting their advantage.I also desire to signal in your RSS feeds. Thank you as soon as once again and maintain up the great operate Awesome post! too bad it doesn't work lol, just keeps telling me firefox must be closed to install, tried a couple of different links and they are the same. And yes firefox is closed when i try to install, bummer.

As usual, a truckload of add-ons DON'T WORK with FF 4 ! Are the FF4 developers asleep at the wheel ? No consultation with add-on developers ? If this continues with every FF release then users will stick with older versions of FF or jump ship to crappier browsers.

And that malware/spyware magnet CHROME still sucks. Google, you're not fooling anyone with your data mining tools disguised as application software.
