For some reason stories like this burn me up.

It's a survey from Forrester alleging that there's a big Linux skills shortage, which may keep companies from adopting it.

I have two problems with this. First, since when is demand for something a problem? Second, what "special skills" does Linux really require?

If you're a capable computer manager, even a Windows geek, you can pick up Linux pretty quickly. As to other development tasks, frankly, programming is programming.

There is a myth about that computer languages and operating systems are like human languages, that the skill sets can only be transferred after extensive, expensive training.

I think that's nonsense. What do you think?
