Good day to confirm this comment I would appreciate T h e b e s t o f Z D N e t d e l i v e r e d your website very nice to everyone Yes, Oracle is the only one with shared-disk architecture, but that is there advantage. It means you can add or remove nodes and the database lives on. In a shared nothing architecture, if you lose a node, you lose the system. I'm sure Oracle appreciates EMC highlighting their advantage.I also desire to signal in your RSS feeds. Thank you as soon as once again and maintain up the great operate Awesome post! Thank you very much || thanks for nice content this is really benefit to me.

Man this OS is a POS.
eprisencc Updated - 23rd Nov 2009
There is nothing this OS can do that I can't do
already with Windows 7. It looks like a piece of
crap and I really wanted to give Google the
benefit of the doubt.

Google really needs to invest in some UI designers
because they go way overboard in the simplicity
department.

POS is a good application for Chrome

Since most retailers rely on external connectivity anyway (process credit/debit cards, checks, backend inventory DB, etc) many medium to large retailers could use this to update their Point of Sale systems. It would actually be a security enhancement for them since all transaction activity would happen in their own data centers vs in the stores.

Wasted Effort

I honestly dont think this is a good time sink for Google. The probability is great that it will never catch on, at least with the largest audience (the general public), this is kinda what they all ready have on their phones. Regardless of it's intent or abilities, it's going to be a lame duck. I think Linux has a better chance of becoming mainstream and for now, I'll stick with Windows for best overall program availability and accessability.

It looks like Win3.1 with a little better display.

I'm not impressed.

I am not totally in support of the chrome OS simply because, the idea behind this suggest that all activites should be online. That means that all your information will be stored on some database somewhere out there on googles database, which can be possibly hacked in the future , by some hacker. It does look cool, simply because most activites are online, but not everyboy wants to share their activites unless they choose to

I don't get why this is even an option for anyone? When was the last time anyone upgraded or purchased an OS for real money? You get windows with every desktop/laptop you purchase for the mst part. I don't see this as any better. You can run the Chrome browser in Windows easily enough (though IMO Firefox is still way better and IE7+ works pretty well). Seems to me that I don't see the real market here.

Seems to me that Linux and Chrome OS users are those people who don't use Microsoft or Mac out of some principal, not because there is a technical reason. I don't have time for this OS. I need to build apps and be productive.

It sucks
msharma117@... 23rd Nov 2009
Hype...and nothing else.
I predict that Google will lose this OS battle just because of there privacy track record. It's hard to change the bad image (on privacy) just ask GM, Ford and Crysler!!!
The fact that the end user feel safer with the data stored on their computer than something sitting on the google servers.
It's nothing but a fodder for article/blog writers to to start yet another Microsoft vs Google rivalry. We will continue to have the solid loyality on both sides (or shall I say 3 sides).

Chrome OS is a NETBOOK OS. It does what netbooks were designed to do, browse the internet and access internet based services. It is NOT intended to replace Windows on traditional desktop computers. It is for those people who want or need a small, portable device to access the internet. It needs to be fast, simple solid and inexpensive. A lot of people, including me, would buy a device like this.

What about NativeClient???
cabdriverjim 23rd Nov 2009
Could someone at ZDNet possibly report on the state of NativeClient in ChromeOS instead of just clammering on about how its "just a basic web browser". NaCl has been around for a year now and no one even seems to realize it exists. Look deeper than the glossy surface for a moment, please.

Just because you create a document and save it on
Google Docs does not mean that it's available to
others.

Again, they're very clear what it's for: people who
only want to use web apps.

What does this make? A very, very power-efficient,
quick, and portable machine. There's no need for the
types of media that come standard on a regular laptop.

Cheap!

Awesome, Google. Keep up the awesome work--we love
you!

Clunky?? Mac OS X looks 10X better! If you think Apple can't
build a simple stack that gives you the same lame effect;
than think again. And their graphics would be 10x better.

Google better give that crap away for free[ because crap
pretty much sums it up

It's absolutely perfect for.....
psyclist 24th Nov 2009
My aging parents / in-laws.... For years I haven't been able to get them interested in even e-mail as they take one look at the process involved in booting up the machine, starting the browser ("what's a browser"!!), then attempting to walk them through various sites.

This is a perfect solution for that generation, as well as being a tote-around for everyone else.... I'd much rather carry a netbook around that provides me the ability to keep current, than a laptop....

maybe there is a group which can make use of it, but i just need something real. something not designed for people with limited intellect and something that doesn't look like it has a big writing on it, saying: I'M CHEAP...aint for me
