Twitter mum on service disruption

By | December 14, 2011, 3:46pm PST

Summary: Twitter has “no further comment” on an hour of persistent error messages and inconsistent service.

Twitter isn’t commenting on an outage that left many users unable to access the micro-blogging service for the better part of an hour today.

Despite a host of different error messages throughout the site, some users were still able to tweet from aggregated social media providers such as TweetDeck as well as possibly some types of social sharing widgets.

No word yet on what caused the outage and a Twitter representative said via email that the company has “no further comment” instead referring users to the Twitter status blog at status.twitter.com for updates.

That site reported the problem resolved just a little after 3:00 p.m. Pacific.
