The 19-year-old arrested on Tuesday by London police has been formally charged with launching denial of services attacks.

Ryan Cleary, who was the center of a flurry of reports connecting the dots between him and the LulzSec hacking group, was charged with a bevy of offenses. Cleary, was identified by the BBC, which appeared to use PasteBin to get the name. Cleary was arrested early Tuesday in what appeared to be a score for Scotland Yard and the FBI. It initially appeared that Cleary was a ringleader for LulzSec, which is structured to be a leaderless organization.

However, LulzSec said it was alive and well. According to @anonymouSabu, believed to be a leader of LulzSec, Cleary was ratted out, but he only hosted chats.

Among the key charges:

  • Cleary allegedly conspired with others to construct a botnet used in an attack.
  • Allegedly launched a DDOS (distributed denial of service) attack was launched June 20 against the Serious Organised Crime Agency to hamper operations.
  • Attacked the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
  • Launched another DDOS attack on the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
  • Cleary allegedly was a botnet supplier.

The teen is expected to appear before the City of Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday. The charges were the latest in an ongoing saga revolving around recent attacks. The latest:

It's all for publicity... They just want people to think they're doing something... Its like the ongoing war with "Al-Qaeda' or the 'Taliban', its a leaderless organization, which means, you can take out key members, but someone else will take his/her place. It also makes others join them in their cause...

    oh well.

Exactly. This is the future. The government hasn't yet figured out that it is impotent to fight a hydra headed monster. Or as was so well pointed out by Alan Moore, an idea can't die, an idea is eternal. Anonymous is becoming an idea now, a symbol, as such it will invincible, as like you said, more people join and/or commit patriotic acts of resistance against the corrupt system under the name of Anonymous. Take out one, two more take his(or her) place.

This is the new "War on Drugs", i.e. an unwinnable war, but one that the US government will not hesitate to jump headlong into and continue with for the next hundred years without stopping and evaluating whether it is even being effective.

LulzSec is beat now and the remaining 6 know it.

$10 says the investigators finds evidence that can lead to other arrests.

@Cylon Centurion I'll take that bet. And, like mentioned above, if all the "leaders" fall, it will only inspire more to take their place
