Verisign has released a Firefox add-on that brings extended validation (EV) certificate support to Mozilla's open-source Web browser.
The anti-phishing feature, which is already supported by Microsoft in IE 7, allows Firefox to recognize SSL servers that have implemented the EV certificate.
The Firefox add-on (available here as a free download) turns the address bar green adds a special label that periodically alternates between the name/summarized address of the Web site owner, and the CA that issued their certificate.
Mozilla plans to embed formal support for EV SSL in Firefox 3.
