WorkLight, a company based in Israel and Boston, on Wednesday launched a tool that's designed to secure Facebook inside the enterprise.

The tool, dubbed WorkBook, is designed to keep confidential data private as employees use Facebook. Simply put, WorkBook is a secure Facebook overlay. WorkLight is hoping that WorkBook will garner some momentum as enterprise security folks worry about Web 2.0 leading to new vulnerabilities. Meanwhile, if technology executives view Facebook access as a necessary evil a product like WorkBook could have legs.

In a statement, WorkLight notes that WorkBook (see overview) allows Facebook to operate as usual, but hook into corporate controls such as data monitoring and security policies. Employees get the usual Facebook features, but in the background employers can control who accesses Facebook, secure information, comply with existing policies and integrate with company directories.

Pricing will run you $10 a month per user with volume discounts.
