'DBA in Space' down to 15 finalists, cast your vote

Summary: Red Gate Software says a trip into suborbital space is a step closer for 15 lucky finalists announced in its DBA in Space competition.

Red Gate Software says a trip into space is a step closer for 15 finalists announced in its DBA in Space competition. The final winner, who will blast off on a Space Adventures flight into suborbital space, will be selected through a 50/50 combination of American Idol-style public voting between now and December 13 and the views of a panel of judges.

Everyone can cast their vote for the finalist at: https://www.dbainspace.com/finalists.

The finalists were culled from more than 5,500 entrants by a panel of judges that include Blur guitarist Graham Coxon, Simon Galbraith, joint-CEO of Red Gate Software, and Buck Woody, senior technical specialist for Microsoft and author of more than 500 articles and five books on databases.

The 15 potential astronauts successfully answered 14 "fiendish" online video questions and were then selected based on what they’d tweet from space, Red Gate reports. The competition was open to database administrators (DBAs) and anyone involved with databases in the UK, USA, Australia, Canada and Germany.

After you participate in the closed voting, there's also an unofficial open Exit Poll @ "redrocketman (dot) com". Votes at the Exit Poll help raise $$$ for the Red Cross. Goofy little red ink drawings and sub-par poems on the blog make it worth the visit ;^)
