PeopleSoft's agreement to be acquired by Oracle for $10.3 billion may add a bit more momentum to theservice-oriented business application arena. While the distraction of swallowing the new company may last for some time,Oracle CEO Larry Ellison said,"This merger works because we will have more customers, which increases our ability to invest more in applications development and support.'' Expect a fair amount of investment in SOA and Web services technology to drive the next era of applications.
