We've just wrapped up the data for the first quarterly Webservices.org SOA survey, with some interesting results.  Out of 1,000 respondents, we've pinpointed 50 sites (or five percent) that can be considered to be well ahead of the curve on SOA.  Organizations in this "Fab 50" group have more than 20 functioning Web services that are shared between business units. (For the most part, they tend to be larger companies with 10,000+ employees, though some smaller firms are in there as well.)

When looking at the attitudes and experiences of the advanced SOA group versus less-developed sites, there's less concern about the maturity of Web services standards -- these companies are forging ahead with the specifications as they stand, and will adapt accordingly. However, there's far more concern about the impact of Web services and SOA on systems performance.

I will be presenting the survey results on May 10th in a Webcast being facilitated by Systinet.  Details on registering for the Webcast can be found here.
