Pink Visual CEO called as expert witness in pornography sub-debate of live SOPA debate

There was an interesting sub-debate on pornography IP infringement during the SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) debate in the House.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif, San Jose) added amendments about pornography and referred to the CEO of Pink Visual (Alison Vivas) as someone she'd like to call in as an expert witness to help craft some of the SOPA regulations on pornography. Pink Visual is known for being at the forefront of pornography and technology, with the first cloud storage for porn, the first iPad porn app, an API and more.

Parents are upset over Kindle Fire's apparent lack of porn filters

And its lack of shopping safeguards... Caryn Talty is a mommyblogger at HealthyFamily.org who pointed out that the Kindle Fire is a “very cool, sleek electronic toy,” while being very unhappy that it “has no parental monitoring safeguards installed on the device or available through a software download.” I do understand why she's upset that just anyone can watch Striptease - because I've seen it.

Universities and colleges are still in headlines about defensive .XXX registration

As iGeneration's Charlie Osbourne points out, many top-rung U.S. and UK institutions are revealing that they didn't do their homework around the now publicly available .xxx top-level domain name - and the potential exploits are troubling.

Facebook strikes against revenge porn site IsAnyoneUp.com

Last Tuesday Facebook’s lawyers sent the operator of nonconsensual porn site IsAnyoneUp.com a three-page Cease & Desist letter demanding he remove all Facebook content.

“Your actions are illegal and must be stopped immediately,” the letter, from Joseph P. Cutler of the law firm Perkins Coie, states. The site posts the Facebook profiles of its victims, who are typically targets of "revenge porn" style postings - and Facebook may be making a play to shut the site down.

Is WordPress a victim of .XXX squatting?

For a split second HuffingtonPost.xxx was registered by a California man right after the ICM's XXX. domain opened for business.

It appeared to be among many sites that have been squatted, including legitimate adult sites that are hopping mad about the way registration was handled. In short order, AOL became owner of the domain - but now eyes are on other likely sexsquatted sites, such as WordPress.xxx and NBCNews.xxx.

A computer security specialist in Silicon Valley was also a one-man sperm bank

Now that he's been busted by the FDA, the whole story is being told. Since 2006, healthy 36-year-old Trent Arsenault had been giving couples his sperm for free; they found him online, would go get his "samples" and use it to artificially inseminate the pregnancy-seeking partner. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is not happy.

The real "Facebook of sex" is apparently Badoo, and it's huge

Badoo is allegedly the world’s fourth-largest social network, with over 132 million users worldwide, and over 1 million in the UK alone. It's based in London and owned by a Russian entrepreneur, and known for being a hotbed for cheaters. Very different than the actual Facebook... Right?
