Freeing workloads from the platform they are currently hosted on and being able to move them from place to place has been an industry challenge. Even if a workload resides in a virtual machine, it can be challenging to move it from place to place to meet service level objectives, improve system optimization or for disaster recovery. Racemi has been a name to know when it came to back up, disaster recovery and workload agility for a number of years. The company just launched Racemi DynaCenter 4 which takes the concept to a new level.
Prior to the release of Racemi DynaCenter 4.0, the product offer the abillity to move workloads from physical system to physical system, from physical to virtual system and version 4 addes the ability to move workloads into and out of cloud services offered by Amazon EC2, Rackspace and Terremark. What is really notable about DynaCenter is that it doesn’t require any modifications of the workload itself to achieve this level of agility and portability.
How does Racemi do this trick? The secret sauce is the ability to compare the configuration of the source and destination and make necessary changes to the workload in flight to make it compatible with the target environment.

I am impressed with their technology and believe that if it was used properly, much of the pain from outages of systems, virtual systems or, now, cloud providers would be reduced or eliminated.
