Citrix Industry Analyst Meeting Begins

Citrix has invited a number of industry analysts to learn more about its vision of the future, its go to market strategy and also to hear from a few Citrix customers.

Here are a few things that I'm looking forward to learning about:

• How Citrix proposes to push forward the Xen-based XenServer virtual machine software in the face of strong competition from VMware (ESX server), Microsoft (Hyper-V, Oracle (Oracle VM - based upon Xen) or Red Hat (KVM).
• How Citrix proposes to support service providers as customers evaluate and adopt cloud computing
• How Citrix proposes to differentiate itself from VMware and Microsoft in the areas of access and application virtualization

VMware's price increase and changes in their terms and conditions created an opportunity for competitors. When the company backed slightly away from their previous pricing position, some clients pointed out that VMware got caught with its hand in the cookie jar. While VMware took its hand out of the jar, that hand is still hovering over the cookie jar for a quick grap at some other time.  I'm hoping to learn how Citrix intends to take advantage of VMware customer discomfort.
