Go VMware Go: vSphere Goes to 5

By | July 12, 2011, 12:16pm PDT

Summary: Announced July 12, 2011 at the VMware Cloud Infrastructure Launch event in San Francisco, VMware vSphere 5 will continue to set the standard in virtualization with nearly 200 new and enhanced capabilities.

VMware's vSphere 5 just hit the track.

vSphere

All the world’s abuzz with the news that Steve Herrod announced a little while ago concerning VMware’s vSphere version 5. The speculation is over. The features are out and they’re all about cloud computing. What a surprise. And, I’m sure they’ll allay all your cloud security concerns as well. VMware’s vSphere is, after all, the most powerful, most secure and most purchased virtualization technology on the market.

I’ll reserve comment and analysis until I’ve had a chance to check out the product which should be within the next two weeks. I know, how odd, that a journalistic type is actually going to look at and use the product he’s discussing. But, that’s how I roll.

And, now for your entertainment, a little ditty I knocked out when I heard the news about vSphere 5. In case, you aren’t familiar, it’s to the tune of the old after school cartoon, Speed Racer.

Seriously though, Steve and VMware, godspeed, and I hope 5 is the best version yet.

<Cue fanfare music>

Here he comes, here comes Steve Herrod,
He’s a wheeler on deals.
He’s a leader and he’s gonna be announcing something.
He’s pulling away from you Xen so you better look alive.
He’s busy revving up vSphere’s version Five.
And when the odds are against him and there’s virtual work to do.
You bet your cloud Steve Herrod’s gonna see it through.

Go Steve Herrod.
Go Steve Herrod.
Go Steve Herrod go!

He doesn’t care if you virtualize your Mac.
He’s jamming down the pedal like he’s never coming back.
Big dollars waiting just aheeeeeeeeaaaaad!

Go Steve Herrod.
Go Steve Herrod.
Go Steve Herrod go!

Have you had a chance to preview vSphere 5 yet? What are your first impressions?

Where does Idaho rank? We have been living in Montana for the past 5 years and I am not supri sexy shop to find it #3 on the "worst" list. Considering a sexshopmove to Idaho to escapthe high cost of living a low income in MT. There may not be a sales tax here but they get you if you own property!
