Integrien AliveVM

By | September 7, 2010, 2:14am PDT

I’m trying to dig may way down the pile of things that came in over the past few weeks while I was busy addressing myself to other issues.

Integrien announced its AliveVM at VMworld and was shortly thereafter purchased by VMware. I guess that wasn’t surprising considering that management of virtual environments is one of VMware’s next big challenges.

Here’s what Integrien had to say about AliveVM

AliveVM can be installed and configured in minutes. It automatically connects to a customer’s vCenter(s) to collect performance metrics, topology and configuration change events. AliveVM immediately applies sophisticated learning-based analytics to establish the normal behavior of every element in the VMware infrastructure down to the metric level. With AliveVM, VMware Administrators are no longer forced to rely on classic monitoring tools and techniques that provide limited insight into the performance of their virtual infrastructure. With the introduction of AliveVM, they are provided with detailed behavioral analysis of the entire virtual environment. AliveVM also provides a real-time summary of performance Health, Workload usage, and Capacity forecasts for each and every virtual element (e.g., Virtual Machines, ESX Servers, Clusters, Storage LUNs and Network elements). Whether the virtual environment spans 50 Virtual Machines or 50,000, AliveVM vastly simplifies performance management and virtual infrastructure optimization.

AliveVM is currently available for download with a free 60-day trial for up to 10 ESXs and 100 VMs at www.alivevm.com. Purchase options are also available through the site.

Snapshot Analysis

Management of virtual environments is a very challenging task when one considers the complexity of the environment. Finding, monitoring and controlling a number of different virtual servers, virtual application environments, virtual networks and virtual storage environments is challenging enough. Making life easy for administrators is the next big challenge.

Integrien, now part of VMware, is one of a large number of competitors offering tools to address this set of issues.

It will be worth watching what VMware does with this technology.

Good day to confirm this comment I would appreciate T h e b e s t o f Z D N e t d e l i v e r e d your website very nice to everyone Yes, Oracle is the only one with shared-disk architecture, but that is there advantage. It means you can add or remove nodes and the database lives on. In a shared nothing architecture, if you lose a node, you lose the system. I'm sure Oracle appreciates EMC highlighting their advantage.I also desire to signal in your RSS feeds. Thank you as soon as once again and maintain up the great operate Awesome post!
