Kroll Ontrack: data recovery and information security in the cloud

Messages concerning Amazon's outage continue to come across my desk even though the outage occurred some time ago. Suppliers still see an opportunity to use the incident as a way to get industry attention for their their products or services. These suppliers hope that they can use that event as a backdrop to make their case. This time, the conversation was about data recovery and information security in cloud computing environments. Abhik Mitra, Product Manager, Kroll Ontrack introduced me to the company and what it is doing to help.

During our conversation a number of topics were examined including data loss, data recovery, information security and even data forensics.While much of the conversation had little to do with the Amazon outage, it was clear that knowing about a company that can help find and recover data that is accidentally deleted or find information when a response to an audit or a request for information is received from a court or a regulatory agency.

Most companies don't have either the necessary tools nor the required skills to address those requests. They typically have trouble responding in a timely and effective fashion.
