Written by Larry Dignan, Contributor

BMC Software said on Thursday that it is acquiring privately held Phurnace Software, which makes automation software to deploy Java applications in the enterprise.

BMC plans to take Phurnace's technology and embed it into its BMC BladeLogic automation portfolio. BMC's software is widely used to automate processes and application deployment in datacentres.

Phurnace's technology will make it easy to model and deploy Java Enterprise Edition applications from the likes of Oracle's BEA, Red Hat's JBoss and IBM's Websphere.
