Massive technology reseller and solution provider CDW has added another major cloud services offering to its portfolio: the company has picked up the Google Apps for Business suite, and it has teamed up with cloud integrator Tempus Nova to provide migration services for same.
"Office productivity continues to be one of the most popular cloud computing categories," said Stephen Braat, senior director of CDW and general manager of the company's cloud and managed solutions. "Integrating cloud productivity initiatives into an organization's IT architecture can be both complex and time-consuming. CDW provides the full breadth of services to quickly and smoothly begin taking advantage of the cloud's benefits."
Actually, the organization at the center of the migrations, at least, is Tempus Nova, which is a Google Apps Premier Reseller and the company that developed the technology that Google uses to migrate mail and calendar data from other systems into Google Apps. Aside from its Google credentials, the company is an award-winning IBM and Lotus Notes Premier Business Partners: to date, it has migrated millions of email accounts and hundreds of enterprise applications into Google Apps and the Google App Engine.
The announcement came just days after CDW became the first partner for Google's video collaboration platform, called Chromebox for meetings. The platform bridges what you can do today with Google+ Hangouts or Google Apps. It is priced at $999 including the ASUS Chromebook used to run it, a high-definition camera, a microphone and speaker unit, and remote controls. The display is separate.
Chromebox is designed for conference rooms for six to eight partipants. But the platform allows up to 15 participants to join a video meeting: from conference rooms, tables, smartphones or laptops. It will connect with existing technologies through a tool from Vidyo, and can also include audioconference participants via UberConference.
CDW began ramping up its Google relationship in February 2013, when it announced an extensive set of solutions and services for enterprises investing in Chromebooks.
