China's top consumer watchdog remains unimpressed by Apple's efforts to amend its after-sales service policies, even though U.S. consumer electronics giant has made efforts to address the concerns.
According to the China Consumers' Association's (CCA) statement on Thursday, it was happy to see Cupertino amend and cancel two unfair clauses related to the warranty period and transport-related damages in its new service policy released in August.
However, the watchdog still found most of the clauses it deemed unfair to be unchanged, and Apple's efforts to alleviate local customers' dissatisfaction insufficient.
"Some clauses in the new repair policy violate laws and regulations, and some clauses are not clear, which may infringe on consumers' rights and interests," the statement said.
This is not the first time Apple's after-sales policies have been criticized by the CCA. The consumer watchdog in June had stated that seven clauses in Apple's terms and conditios were "unfair" to customers and against the country's law. CCA also placed Apple on a "company integrity" blacklist in July due to these concerns.
