Networking vendor Citrix will be launching its first Australian Citrix IT Academy program at Box Hill Institute in Melbourne.

The program will be the first of its kind across the Asia-Pacific region and is part of the Citrix Academic Network, which aims to provide students with cloud computing and virtualisation skills that can be practically applied to businesses.

Citrix will provide Box Hill Institute access to Citrix authorised training curriculum and course ware for cloud and virtualisation. According to the vendor, students will get hands-on experience in integrating Citrix offerings into a workplace.

"As cloud adoption gathers pace in Australia, it is essential businesses are fully prepared for the changes they must make to maximise their IT capabilities," Box Hill Institute IT centre manager Simon Taylor said in a statement. "Initiatives like Citrix IT Academy will ensure businesses are fully prepared for the evolution taking place."

The Citrix IT Academy program will officially launch at Box Hill Institute on July 30.
