Cloud backup service adds Salesforce.com support

Cloudfinder already works with Google Apps and Microsoft Office 365, as well as on-premises data.

Several months ago, I wrote about Backupify, a backup service meant to work specifically with Google Apps and Salesforce.com. Now, Swedish developer Cloudfinder — which already offers a cloud-hosted service for backing up data from Google Apps and Microsoft Office 365 — is beta-testing support for protecting Salesforce.com data.

The service works automatically, monitoring activity and proactively backing up new information as it is added within Cloudfinder's SafeHaven archive, which uses the 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256). Another feature that will be of particular interest: Cloudfinder can search and filter information across multiple sources. Right now, that includes Google Apps, Microsoft Office 265 and on-premises data, although the company also plans to add support for additional cloud services in the coming months.

"Salesforce recommends that their users perform an independent backup of Salesforce CRM data and, of course, we agree with that recommendation," said Daniel Karrholm, CTO of Cloudfinder. "Our system not only provides extremely cost-effective and reliable backup that's literally plug and play, but also excellent information management, especially for customers backing up more than one cloud service in Cloudfinder."

You can arrange for a 90-day free trial of the Salesforce.com backup service. The company doesn't publish its pricing for after that period ends, but it offers a reduced price for up to 12 months if you work with one of its integration partners.
