The cloud-based payroll software provider ZenPayroll is barely two years old, but the San Francisco-based startup — which is backed by the CEOs of Yelp, Dropbox, Yammer, and Box, as well as Y Combinator — is well on its way toward its goal of becoming a robust ecosystem for SMB technology.
The company announced today that it has partnered with a dozen SMB-focused technology companies that will work to connect back office tools ranging from payroll to benefits to human resources.
Having already established partnerships with Intuit, Xero and FreshBooks, the new batch of partners now include BambooHR, BayPoint Benefits, Employee Navigator, Expensify, Kin HR, hCentive, inDinero, Insynctive, Maxwell Health, Receipt Bank, SimplyInsured and Zenefits.
The company said the initiative to join small business technology providers is a major step toward developing an ecosystem that will help small businesses compete with large, established competitors.
"According to a recent survey, nearly a third of Americans find the idea of starting their own company scarier than skydiving. We believe technology should allay those fears and empower people to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams," said Joshua Reeves, CEO and co-founder of ZenPayroll.
