Cortado extends Corporate Server support to iPad
Mobile enterprise software specialist Cortado has extended its mobile Corporate Server product to support iPads, the company announced on Monday.
The platform —which is already available for the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry devices— allows office workers to perform common tasks, such as accessing documents or querying database reports remotely.
Cortado says that Corporate Server "enables nearly all classic desktop functions" including being able to send files from a corporate network to contacts in the iPad's address book. Users can also upload documents to their office network, fax documents directly from the iPad or convert them into a PDF or ZIP file.
The app also brings remote printing functions for documents created with Apple Pages —Apple's word processing and design software — offering users the choice of printing to a networked corporate device or any Wi-Fi or Bluetooth enabled printer.
A fully-functional thirty day free trial is available to download from the Cortado web page, pricing is dependent upon requirements.
Apple reported on Monday that it sold 4.19m iPads during the company's fiscal fourth quarter of 2010 netting the company nearly $2.8bn in revenue for the iPad alone. While the performance of the iPad was below some analyst predictions, market research firm iSuppli increased its 2011 shipment forecast to 43.7m units, up from 36.5m.
"In its previous iPad forecasts, iSuppli noted that the only constraint on shipment growth now is production and not demand," said Rhoda Alexander, director of monitor research for iSuppli. "The only factor limiting production is the availability of key iPad components, such as the Field Fringe Switching (FFS) LCD panels, projected capacitive touch screens and NAND flash."
