blog Minister for Defence John Faulkner today rose in the Senate to dissociate himself from Twitter and Facebook, offering what is known as a "personal explanation" in the Senate.
Labor Senator John Faulkner
"I wish to state that I do not have a Twitter account," Faulkner said this afternoon. He added that he did not have a Facebook account either. The "Twitter Blog", he said, at senjohnfaulkner was not him.
The account first tweeted: "Working to enhance the security of nuclear materials around the world".
How long will it take before other senators will be required to do the same thing? It could waste a lot of time in the Senate. And what's the deal with the guy operating the fake Twitter account anyway? It's not satirical. So if you're not trying to make people laugh, what are you trying to do? Did you seriously think you could influence politics by using a minister's name for a Twitter account? Seems to me to be a cunning plan to piss said minister off.
