Dell targets corporates with latest printers

A 'second-generation' utility will help firms control colour printing costs, claims Dell, as it launches its latest range of colour and black-and-white laser printers

On Wednesday Dell made another move to capture more market share in the corporate space with the launch of a new range of colour and monochrome laser printers, with prices ranging from £209 to £599.

Dell claims the new printers will offer lower total cost of ownership (TCO) through its ColorTrack2 technology, which allows administrators to remotely define "colour printing rights and quotas" at the user level and track usage through a Web browser.

There are three new colour printers, the Dell Colour Laser Printer 3010cn, the 3110cn and the 5110cn, which offer colour print speeds from five to 35 A4 pages per minute (ppm).

While colour printing is now mainstream, many businesses are reluctant to make it available on demand for all users, on the grounds of cost. With the new printers, Dell is gambling that its value-for-money image and low price point will convince more companies to enable colour printing.

Along with the colour printers are two new, monochrome departmental printers, the Dell Laser Printer 5210n and the 5310n, with print speeds up to 47 A4 ppm.

"This new laser printer portfolio reaffirms Dell's commitment to improving customer experience by integrating advanced technologies across the product line without increasing prices," said Jon Lynch, Dell UK's marketing manager for imaging services, in a statement.

The monochrome printers are the Dell Workgroup Laser Printer 5210n, which prints at speeds up to 38 A4 ppm and costs £499, and the 5310n, described as "Dell's fastest laser printer", which prints at speeds up to 47 A4 ppm and costs £599.

The Dell Colour Laser Printer 5110cn is a colour networking printer with a double-sided print capability at up to 35 ppm A4 in colour and 40 ppm A4 in monochrome. It has a 95,000 page monthly duty cycle and 2,150 page input capacity. It costs £559.

The 3110cn has a colour print speed of 17 pages per minute and costs £319. The 3010cn is the entry-level networked colour printer. It prints at up to 5 ppm in colour and 25 ppm in monochrome and costs £209.
