In early December, decentralised social networking start-up Diaspora announced plans to expand its team. It turns out that the small, US-based team will also be accepting applications from Australia and New Zealand.

"Over the coming months," Diaspora had said in its a December blog post, "team expansion is one of our top priorities."

"We are currently looking for interns, and will be hiring full-time developers and a community manager next," the social network added. Both vacancies are now live on Diaspora and open to those situated down under.

"Thank you for your interest in the intern position," Diaspora wrote to ZDNet Australia last week. "The position dose [sic] not have to be US based," the correspondence added.

It is understood that the positions are unpaid. Applications are still open on the Diaspora website.
