Directory: M2M vendors in the US

Summary: ZDNet’s directory of M2M vendors has market, product, and contact information on companies that provide end-point devices, network management, or other M2M products and services.

SHARE:

Machine-to-machine (M2M) technology is a rapidly growing part of the global economy, especially in automotive, transportation, logistics, energy and healthcare.

Unfortunately, there are no "one stop shop" vendors that can provide strategy, implementation, and relevant hardware and software--such as exist in the ERP space. The market is characterized by small niche players, as well as the big name IT consulting houses you'd expect, leaving customers to do much of the legwork themselves.

To help IT professionals and technology decision makers to navigate the M2M landscape, the editors of ZDNet have compiled a shortlist of M2M vendors that provide products and services in the US.

This is not a paid listing, nor is it an exhaustive list; it's an alphabetic glossary of vendors that provide end-point devices, network management, or other M2M products and services.

  • Very incomplete list...

As my dad once said, "anything worth doing is worth doing right". Bill, this list does a disservice to the many innovative M2M providers in the USA.

I'm the CTO and Co-Founder of ThingWorx (http://www.thingworx.com) which is glaringly missing from your list. We've been identified as the leading innovator in the M2M space with our ThingWorx application platform, and are rapidly become one of the top software technology suppliers in the M2M market (and are working with, providing technology to, or winning business away from many of the companies on your list).

There are probably another 20-30 US-based M2M suppliers of technology throughout the M2M value chain that are also missing.

I encourage you to learn more about us at our web site, and feel free to contact me if you'd like to learn more.

    • VERY incomplete list...

While many of the companies listed are household names, some of the international players in M2M are missing - Rockwell Automation, National Instruments, Siemens, Data Science Automation. Of these, National Instruments has been the pioneer of Virtual Instrumentation and provides a unique Graphical Programming Language (LabVIEW).

  • What OS?

So what OS are these things going to be running? Doesn't QNX already provide a micro-kernel that is being used by many machines?

  • Really missed the mark with this list!

Where or HOW did you come up with this list? This is a fast growing market. Your comment "Unfortunately, there are no "one stop shop" vendors that can provide strategy, implementation, and relevant hardware and software--such as exist in the ERP space. The market is characterized by small niche players, as well as the big name IT consulting houses you'd expect, leaving customers to do much of the legwork themselves." is COMPLETELY off mark. Digi International is a Manufacturer and solutions provider with a strong professional services offering. Please consider a new comprehensive list.
