One of Amazon Web Services' Premier Consulting Partners, Datapipe, is extending its managed services capabilities through the acquisition of Newvem, which focuses on cloud analytics and operations optimization.

While terms of the deal weren't disclosed, the deal will bring more analytics and optimization insights to businesses that use Datapipe to help manage their workloads in the AWS cloud, said Datapipe CEO Robb Allen.

Newvem's platform provides deeper insight into cloud operations and optimization metrics. The integration will provide businesses with clear, customizable visibility into their AWS purchasing options, costs and usage trends. It will also provide Datapipe customers with additional optimization, management and support capabilities.

One of Datapipe's customers, a tablet computer developer called Fuhu, said the integration between the two platforms will provide it with better forecasting and budgeting capabilities with respect to its hybrid cloud infrastructure.

“Datapipe enables a 360 degree view of our cloud operations to provide the ability to immediately optimize when needed," said Fuhu CEO Jim Mitchell in the press release announcing the transaction. "No other managed IT or cloud provider can provide this."

Datapipe, based in Jersey City, N.J., is a pretty substantial data center and managed services providers, with cloud infrastructure capabilities in Silicon Valley, the New York Metro area, London, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Aside from being among Amazon's elite cloud partners, it is also a pretty green company as far as data center providers go: it is one of the companies that uses Verne Global's green data center in Iceland (powered by geothermal sources) and it sources clean energy for all of its locations.
