DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:The Institution of Engineering and Technology has invited Professor Brian Collins to speak at the Prestige Lecture Series Mountbatten Memorial Lecture on Thursday 15th November. Professor Collins took up the position of Professor of Engineering Policy at UCL in August 2011 and is also currently chairing an Engineering and Interdependency Expert Group for Infrastructure UK, led by Lord James Sassoon, Commercial Secretary in Her Majestys Treasury.

Professor Collins, will talk about the need of urgent modernisation of national systems such as water, energy, transport, waste management and information services if the UK is to make the best use of the latest technological innovations and remain economically competitive and a desirable place to live and work. A lot of the UKs infrastructure was built in the Victorian era so to ensure it works in the future we need to redesign and modernise it.
