in brief Melbourne has today become the second Australian capital city to encounter 3G issues on the Optus network, with 3G mobile data services affected until 1:30pm this afternoon.
The telco told ZDNet Australia that an equipment fault at the Optus Sunshine exchange had caused issues on the 3G network in the western half of the Melbourne central business district today. 2G services were not affected and the telco said services had been restored by Optus technicians at 1:30pm today.
Optus has advised customers still experiencing difficulty with their 3G connection to turn their mobile phone off and back on again to refresh their network connection.
Adelaide suffered from a similar 3G outage this morning, but Optus said the two incidents were unrelated.
