Box is checking another, well, box of its list of business verticals to target with a new ecosystem and set of services dedicated to the legal community.
Reflecting a 150 percent spike in sales from legal industry customers over the last year, Box is adding 21 new web and mobile third-party apps to its digital marketplace, each of which are intended to make lawyers more "efficient."
These apps cover courtroom, practice and case management, timekeeping, and other logistical concerns.
Box is also integrating EnCase eDiscovery software, which will allow users (i.e. multiple law firms, etc.) to be able to search, collect, and save electronically stored information maintained in Box.
In an attempt to reach some files and data that aren't as easy to access, Box is also setting up a link between itself and legacy document management system, iManage.
The growing enterprise cloud company has also inked a deal to participate in the American Bar Association (ABA) Advantage program, which has resulted in another giveaway of 50GB of free storage space to the association’s base of approximately 400,000 members. The offer is available until June 30, 2014.
While the Los Altos, Calif.-based company has been focused on serving business customers in general, Box has been slowly tailoring its cloud-based collaboration platform for specific industries.
Earlier this year, Box made headway with that strategy in the healthcare field, notably becoming certified as HIPAA-compliant.
That translates to mean that doctors, health professionals, and even patients can legally use Box's cloud storage service for sharing sensitive data, such as patient charts, for diagnoses, research, and more.
The two software integrations are available starting today. But the legal ecosystem apps won't be joining the Box Apps Marketplace until the first quarter of 2014.
