Geany supports Markdown!

A while back I was looking at using the Getting Things Done (GTD) method of being vaguely organised.

I started out with Thinking Rock and then moved to the Evolution. But my todo list is stagnating like a pond under a tree.

Last Thursday I had an epiphany. Well, an idea. I was writing a todo list for the tail end of a web design project. The list was getting longer and longer -- 13 items. Then I realised I could use code folding to get an overview of the list. Magic. My days are so full of excitment.

Then I took the intellectual leap, and thought the same process could be applied to the GTD methodology. Sure enough, Leaf Raker had written a blog post entitled GTD with plain text files. Magnificent.

And then I discovered that Geany (my most favourite text editor) has supported the Markdown syntax since last August (a chap called Jon Strait wrote a lexer)! Code-highlighting rock-out! Alas though, Markdown in Geany doesn't support code folding.

I'll have to use a quasi-XML format until I can find out how to enable the code-folding.
