Tomorrow, ZDNet UK is going to launch something rather splendid. Something very close to my heart. Annoyingly, we're going to spend today hinting at what it might be.

In relation to that, we'll be asking some pop quiz questions on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ today. There is no escape.

You can answer them directly on those services or leave your answers here, and the first person to get them all right (or who gets the most right by tomorrow) will win something rather splendid. Particularly clever, informative or witty replies will also be in the running for bonus prizes.

Watch for hashtag #tft1

No rules - except that if you've been working for or with us, you have an advantage and won't win anything. Editor's decision is final.

If you know what we're up to already, then keep mum and don't spoil the fun.

If you don't - well, watch this space.

It's all very exciting.

[UPDATE]

Question 1: What links Mel Brooks and Steve Jobs? Question 2: If ten percent was worth $800 then, what's it worth now? Question 3: What went from the trenches in 1918 to your pocket in 2011? Question 4: What cost $5 a gram in 1983 and $4.40 a gram in 2011? Question 5: What do you get if you cross Simon and Plato?

And that's it! Answers will be up tomorrow - together with the explanation how all of the above ties in to our brand new, shiny new, excitingly new thing.
