Glassdoor: Facebook, LinkedIn among 25 best companies for job opportunties
Jobs and careers site Glassdoor has published an updated annual list of the top 25 companies for career opportunities and advancement, and Silicon Valley made a noticeable dent on the list.
Here is a glance at how technology companies fared in the rankings:
- #3: Facebook
- #11: LinkedIn
- #13: CareerBuilder.com
- #14: ExactTarget
- #18: SAP
- #25: Akamai
Out of those six, only Facebook and CareerBuilder.com are repeat contenders, placing ninth and 12th in 2011. GE, Qualcomm, Rackspace, and Deloitte all dropped off the list for 2012.
Some of the comments about pros and cons about each of these companies is worth checking out -- and taking into consideration depending on what kind of job you're seeking.
For instance at SAP, some of the benefits were cited to be better pay and a well-known brand. At the same time, there have been complaints about frequent reorganizations.
At LinkedIn, it looks like employees are motivated by the company has a clear vision for the future -- a real bonus these days in the Valley with the threat of another bubble looming. But they also grumble that technology itself might not have caught up with that vision just yet, which could hamper the business social network just a bit.

Overall, the range of industries on the varied widely based on some of the other entrants, including global financial services firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers, luxury hotel brand Ritz Carlton, and fast food chain In-N-Out.
