Hitachi Data Systems had its new server, launched on Monday, ready to parade before the public at Storage Expo 2008 on Wednesday.

The smallest of the systems, the $31,500 (£18,300) AMS 2100, is part of a range that scales up to the $81,500 AMS 2500. HDS's technical solutions director, Dave Haslam, explains how the new system differs substantially from previous offerings.
