At RSA 2008 in San Francisco, Malcolm Gladwell — author of The Tipping Point and Blink — tells security professionals why too much information can impair judgement. As an example, he said emergency room doctors are much better at diagnosing chest pain accurately when they have only four data points (chest pain, instability, fluid in the lungs, and an electrocardiogram) instead of when they take into account factors such as patient age and whether the patient smokes.

  • Let software deal with information overload

Information Overload doesn't have to be a problem. I am using a great tool that summerises documents, emails and webpages (even blogs). Unlike some of the other tools I have tried this software really does summarise in context. Why spend time reading paragraphs of information when there is software out there that will give you the core sentences in a couple of seconds.

If anyone is interested the website is http://www.murge.com/contextorganizer

There is also some very useful software programs all around information and project management.
