HP adds collaboration tools for businesses

Summary: The company has increased its offerings for small to medium-sized businesses, introducing online communications tools as well as storage and support offerings

HP has announced new communication, collaboration and networking tools targeted at small to medium-sized businesses, in addition to new storage capabilities and online services that allow businesses to protect their data and manage their operations.

As online business tools evolve, many are designed to help enterprises increase efficiency and reduce expenses. Smaller businesses, however, can also benefit from online-based offerings. HP's tools for small to medium-sized businesses (SMB) include HP Virtual Rooms, remote online collaboration 'rooms' where employees, partners or clients can meet to share documents, launch whiteboard brainstorming sessions or just generally collaborate.

Also announced was the Small Biz Nation partnered tool that brings HP, Intel and LinkedIn together to offer peer-to-peer support and networking opportunities in a LinkedIn community, and HP 48Upper, which targets medium-sized businesses through an online social service that allows IT workers to manage across all of the IT processes, including project planning, operations and service management.
